![]() M2 drive, but You will still see lag, when FG will load new tile with that size. ![]() You can have NASA machine with ultrafast. Much better solution is tile size 256x256 or 512 x 512. Once we've got this settled, all there's left to do, is to find new GPL2 compatible sources (see this for reference) and add them. So if you've got an idea, on how to host it, please bring it up. My server could do it but my reverse proxy solution might break, when I load significantly more on it (currently 3.5TB bandwidth/month from terrasync, osm2city and fgaddon). Tasmania and Bavaria together are about 100GB which is as much as the entire gobal terrasync (without osm2city). * DONE for now, potentially needs funding to keep my stuff up: We need a hosting solution. I've asked for it on the mailing list but so far I haven't gotten any responce. Without it, even the most high end GPUs will reach its VRAM limits very quickly. Especially the Bavaria scenery is of high quality (80cm/px source). Initial things, that are needed for this to get to a level of common usability (think available via terrasync or similar): In the rendering settings make sure that Photoscenery is enabled and Terrain Quality is set to Ultra. You will need the very latest next build to run it since it uses brand new code for the WS3.0 scenery. WS3 base scenery needs to be downloaded separately, available here To download the ortho scenery, point your terrasync client at What has already been built you can see here * Europe, for some parts additional sources in higher resolution And even more to come! Thanks so much to everyone.I'd like to start this initiative, aimed at creating distributable ortho scenery for flightgear. Our scenery has come so far thanks to the many who have worked on all the tools and systems. But still, fantastic compared to current version scenery. Also how to add building facades to match local areas. I need to ask on OSM2city thread what needs to be configured for this. Ie: single family homes VS 2 story apartment style. I wonder what needs to be done to match building style better. If you look closely, a lot of the buildings don't match the style of the real buildings. My point is that the OSM code in FG is really getting sophisticated and doing a really great job of adding buildings where the OSM database has yet to have buildings added. I was the one that input those in the OSM database. ![]() Last I looked at the OSM database there was only a few of the main downtown buildings added. I assume most of the OSM here is the generated street algorithm as I don't think OSM proper has been updated with all the buildings for this town of El Dorado. (megginson scenery, FG OSM, photoscenery overlay) You don't have to necessarily run your scripts.Ĭompare this (as stated above) with the current way outdated terrasync data. ![]() I don't know if you are aware, if you just point at your scenery, turn on all the high end OSM stuff in the FG menu and turn on photoscenery (after downloading it of course), you end up with some really incredible scenery. This map shows all the way to the east coast.Īlso, even though I have my own custom Kansas scenery, it is so nice to have it and the rest of the North American Continent updated and upgraded as you done. Is that correct? That server only has the two western chunks next to Alaska. Map here on this post shows more area in northern Canada than the actual map server does. ![]()
